Nail trimming is essential for all breeds but how frequent it is done is entirely down to each individual. Some nails grows faster than others and those who do more pavement walking may not need them trimming as often as those who don't have the time to wear them down naturally. Small and Toy breeds are more likely to need their nails trimming as they weigh so little this will not give the nails the wear that larger breeds would have. The length of the quik or blood vessel in the nail can prevent the nails being cut back as far as desired but this can be pushed back with regular trims and pavement walking.
